Digital X-rays are the latest the latest in patient safety, comfort and technology. This advanced system is part of the best possible care that we provide for our patients.
A digital X-ray system uses a digital sensor to take an X-ray of your teeth and displays it almost instantly on a computer screen. You don’t wait for film to develop; instead, the image of your teeth is immediately available on the computer screen.
The on-screen image looks like a regular X-ray, but is much larger and more vivid for patients. Patients are able to see the health of their own teeth with their own eyes!
How do digital X-rays work?
It’s simple. We place a small, flat sensor covered by a protective sheath into your mouth. This sensor is connected to the digital X-ray computer by a thin wire. We use an X-ray unit to send a beam into the sensor. The sensor records a precise, highly detailed image of your teeth and sends it to the computer where it is stored.
Are digital X-rays safe?
Digital X-ray systems are the safest technology available for X-rays of teeth. Digital X-rays require less radiation than conventional film X-rays. This translates into increased safety for you, our patient, as well as our diligent staff members.
What are other benefits?
Digital X-rays are better for the environment because we no longer use photochemicals, film or lead wrappers used in traditional X-rays.
Also, when you come to our office in an emergency situation, we do not have to wait for X-rays to develop to diagnose proper treatment for your tooth. The images are instant, and care is given immediately.
Advanced Technologies
Dr. Martinez has made technological investments in her practice, aiding in shorter treatment times for some procedures and higher patient comfort.

By digitalizing X-ray equipment, patients are exposed to far less radiation than traditional X-rays. Also providing immediate views of the jaw & teeth, and are recordable on computers so the information can be easily shared with other specialists.

LASERS
Utilizing a soft tissue laser allows for necessary gum incisions to be made with less damage to the tissue. This new technology also causes less discomfort and bleeding, and in some cases eliminates the need for anesthesia and/or stitches.
